Welcome Space Explorers

Prepare for a stellar camp adventure with TRCamp 2024 as campers embark on an enthralling expedition of STEM exploration and discovery, inspired by NASA's Artemis Mission! This space-themed summer camp is nothing short of extraordinary, transporting young space explorers to worlds beyond our imagination. Participants from grades K-12 will collaborate and tackle challenges that mirror the daily routines of astronauts, from constructing NASA rovers and designing habitats to launching rockets and defending cyberspace.


All campers receive a 2024 Camp T-shirt, Mission Log, and NASA Artemis patch for completing the mission.

Learn coding in a fun way by playing games! In this educational gamified platform, students learn coding while playing a fun and adventurous game with multiple learning adventures to explore. The curriculum is designed exclusively for different age groups allowing students to begin where they are with easy and advanced coding adventures to choose from. Synchronized Text-based and Block-based coding system enables students to switch between text code and code blocks at any time. By converting text-based codes into blocks, students will be able to construct algorithms faster by visualizing the code when they write.

Mission Mars: Engineering Perseverance

Join us for an interactive learning adventure exploring the Mars Mission using Augmented Reality as we build the LEGO Mars Perseverance rover using LEGO Technic models (available for purchase for additional fee). In each lesson, campers will take on the role of NASA engineers, scientists, and technicians. Through open ended lessons students will get hands-on learning opportunities as they explore engineering problems the Mars 2020 team face as they explore the surface of Mars. Robotics Discovery: mars math expedition

In the Mars Math Expedition STEM Lab Unit, students will learn about the different elements of the field and compete in the Mars Math Expedition competition. In this VEX GO Competition STEM Lab Unit students will drive a Hero Robot to collect samples, rescue a rover, lift a rocket ship and more! As students work on various tasks, they may be interested to hear about how the actions of their Hero Robot relate to the missions happening on Mars.

FIRST® LEGO® League Explore guides campers through 12 sessions designed to introduce the fundamentals of engineering through real-world problem-solving. Cybercamp standard

CyberCamp Standard is the perfect way to get introduced to the world of cybersecurity! Many students who attend a standard AFA CyberCamp go on to participate in CyberPatriot's National Youth Cyber Defense Competition. CyberCampers will experience 20 hours of beginner cybersecurity education:


- Introduction to Cybersecurity: career paths, cyber ethics, online safety

- How computers work, cyber threats, cybersecurity principles, virtual machines

- Windows 10: Basic security policies and tools, account management

Artemis Mission: lunar surface exploration

GRADES 7-12 | AFTERNOON 1:00-4:00 PM

Grade as of 2024-2025 school year 

In this camp session, students will take on the role of scientists and engineers that will lead the way in lunar surface exploration. Artemis III will land in an area of the Moon that humans have not yet traversed: the lunar South Pole.


NASA’s Lunar Surface Innovation Initiative is a technology development portfolio to ensure human and robotic exploration on the Moon. Each activity in this module will allow students to discover problems encountered as well as solutions as we explore the lunar surface. Each activity collaboration to apply the engineering design process to lunar surface exploration and provides a variety of additional resources to help the educator and student experience what it's like to be a NASA scientist and engineer in lunar surface operations.

Electronics adventure: 30 days lost in space

The 30 Days Lost in Space STEM Kit is an electronics adventure that teaches all the basics of programming, wiring, and more using the Arduino IDE and the components inside the kit. The story takes place on a foreign planet, where your spaceship has crash-landed at the bottom of the ocean. Your goal is to fix your spaceship and make it home successfully by learning the necessary programming/wiring skills you need to do so.


Problem-solve your way out of all the messy consequences of getting stranded on an alien planet. Every day we will be working together to get you off that unfamiliar planet and getting closer to your return home. We will challenge you, quiz you, reward you, and be there for you when you need help. It won’t be the easiest thing you’ve done but after this challenge, you will have the knowledge to build your own projects from scratch!

Aeronautics and flight: fighter aces of WWII

GRADES 7-12 | MORNING 9-12

Grade as of 2024-2025 school year 

In this camp, we will build a classic warbird of WWII, the P-51 Mustang. The FT Master Series Mustang is a classic warbird that provides as much satisfaction in building as it does flying it! The FT Master Series Mustang is a very scale representation of one of the most iconic warbirds. The kit comes with two different canopy options so you can build it as the D model with a bubble canopy or a B model with a razorback canopy. In this camp, students will build their very own warbird to keep while also working collaboratively to build a much larger version of the P-51 Master Series which will be flown at a later date.


Campers will have the opportunity to apply design thinking skills through our Engineering Design Model to build their own WWII warbird aircraft and see what it takes to become a fighter ace! Fly to new heights today with TRCamp!

Learn about NASA's Ingenuity Mars Helicopter, the first aircraft to achieve powered, controlled flight on another planet, and its historic and successful activities on Mars. Campers will explore UAVs and Drone technologies used to engineer NASA's Ingenuity Mars Helicopter. Campers will explore coding with Codrones, coding, and autonomous flight. Campers will learn about the FAA's TRUST certificate and how to achieve Part 107 drone pilot certification.
