Engineer mighty things

TRCamp 2026 | Three Weeks. Three Domains. 100% Engineering.

In the beginning, a world collided with Earth, and from the fire and debris the Moon was born—forged in chaos, cooled in silence, and set in the heavens as a guardian of our nights. For 4.5 billion years it waited, barren and breathless, until humanity looked up and answered its call to explore.

The Artemis Generation will explore places on the Moon never before seen and inspire millions of young people to Engineer Mighty Things. For 15 years, so have we. This summer, join us as TRC celebrates its 15th program year. We are planning the best TRCamp ever. Audete Magna MMXI — MMXXVI

Our Character Trait this summer is Integrity in honor of the Artemis II mission.

Theme Verse:   "Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know."

                                   — Jeremiah 33:3

TRCamp isn't entertainment with LEGOs. This is where future engineers get their start.

At TRCamp, your child won't just play with LEGO robots — they'll build skills to become engineers who build real things across Technology, Robotics, and Computer Science.

Each week offers two concurrent sessions so your child can choose their focus:

  • Space Engineering or Minecraft Engineering
  • Robotics Engineering or Video Production
  • AI Engineering or Electronic Engineering

100% engineering. 0% filler. And they take home Capstone projects.

TRCamp is the first step on the TRConstellation pathway — the same domains that power year-round robotics and engineering education at Tennessee Robotics Center.

Every great engineer started somewhere.

At TRCamp, that somewhere is right here in Murfreesboro.

Your child will design, build, code, and test—engineering ideas into working creations they can hold in their hands. Whether it's their first robot or their fifth, TRCamp challenges every camper to push beyond what they thought possible.

This summer, help your child engineer mighty things at TRCamp!

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

THREE WEEKS. THREE DOMAINS. REAL ENGINEERING.

Each week focuses on a different engineering area, with two session options so campers can choose their focus.

WEEK 1: TECHNOLOGY Engineering |  June 15-19, 2026

Choose Your Session:

  • TRCamp Jr: LEGO Space Adventures (Discovery Lab, Grades K-2)

Our youngest engineers explore space through hands-on LEGO building. Spaceships, rovers, and moon bases — age-appropriate challenges that spark curiosity. Half-Day, 9 AM – 12 PM

  • Artemis Space Engineering (Challenger Lab, Grades 3-8)

Kick off summer with the Artemis Mission! Design lunar rovers, build moon base structures, and solve the same challenges NASA engineers face. Real space science meets hands-on building. Includes 3D printing — design and print custom rover components to take home.

  • Video Production Engineering (Perseverance Computer Lab, Grades 6-12)
  • Storyboarding, filming, editing — create a video you're proud to share. Learn the same production workflow used by professional videographers and digital media creators. Take home a finished video.
  • Aerospace Engineering (Pathfinder Advanced Robotics Lab, Grades 8-12)

Advanced aerospace engineering for upper middle and high schoolers. Campers will explore advanced CAD design using Fusion 360, wind tunnels, explore systems engineering and integration, and complete professional-level engineering design challenges for portfolio projects and academic experiences.

WEEK 2: ROBOTICS engineering |  July 6–10, 2026

Choose Your Session:

  • TRCamp Jr: LEGO Robotics Discovery (Discovery Lab, Grades K-2)

Introduction to robotics for our youngest engineers. Build and explore with LEGO robotics systems and age-appropriate programming adventures designed for early learners. Half-Day, 9 AM – 12 PM

  • LEGO Robotics Engineering (Challenger Lab, Grades 3-8)

Want to compete on an FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Challenge robotics team? This is your boot camp to learn how. Build and program robots that complete with real competition challenges. Learn FLL mission strategies, coding, compete in mock matches, and discover what it takes to be on a championship FLL team. Top performers will be invited to join our fall TRC FLL competition teams for the upcoming 2026-27 season.

  • Arduino Adventure: 30 Days Lost in Space (Perseverance Computer Lab, Grades 6-12)

Crash-land on an alien planet. Learn to code and wire to survive. Your spaceship is destroyed — the only way home is to repair it yourself. Using the Inventr.io Arduino kit, campers learn real electronics and C++ programming guided by video lessons from a former NASA engineer. Build circuits with LEDs, sensors, buzzers, keypads, and OLED displays. Create a working control panel as your capstone project.

  • Take home your complete electronics kit with lifetime course access to continue learning at home. ($50 add-on for the Arduino Hero board)
  • REV Robotics Engineering (Pathfinder Advanced Robotics Lab, Grades 8-12)

FTC high school level robotics with REV Robotics components, CAD design, and OnBot Java programming. This camp is a direct pathway to join one of our FTC competition teams. Learn competitive FTC game strategies, engineering design, compete in mock matches, and discover what it takes to succeed on a championship FTC team. Learn from our current team members. Top performers will be invited to join our fall TRC FTC competition teams for the upcoming 2026-27 season.

WEEK 3: COMPUTER Engineering | July 20-24, 2026

  • Formula1 Race Car Engineering (Challenger Lab, Grades 3-8)

Build your dream race car! Sketch concepts on drawing tablets, sculpt clay prototypes, and 3D print your custom race car. Learn aerodynamics, safety engineering, and drivetrain technology. Team up to build an epic cardboard race track for the Friday showcase. Take home your 3D-printed car, sketches, and clay model.

  • Minecraft Engineering (Perseverance Computer Lab, Grades 3-8)

Redstone isn't just for gaming — it's real engineering. Build circuits, logic gates, and automated systems. Learn the same principles that power real-world electronics, all inside Minecraft.

  • Electronics Engineering: Nebula Raiders (Pathfinder Advanced Robotics Lab, Grades 8-12)

Join the crew of the Nebula Raider and learn Python programming and electronics using the Raspberry Pi Pico. Build communication systems, security scanners, and environmental monitors through an immersive space pirate storyline. Take home your complete kit with lifetime course access.

  • Take home your complete electronics kit with lifetime course access to continue learning at home. ($75 add-on for the Raspberry Pi Pico kit)

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose between the sessions each week? Think about what excites your child most. Chances are, whatever they enjoy the most, they will learn the most.

Can my child switch sessions mid-week? Sessions run as cohesive experiences, so no, we don't recommend switching mid-week. However, if your child attends multiple weeks, they can choose different sessions each week.

What should my child bring? Closed-toe shoes, lunch (we're a nut-free facility), water bottle, positive attitude, and curiosity. We provide all materials and tools. Most camps will include a take-home project of some sort.

What if my child has never done robotics/coding before? Perfect! TRCamp is designed for all experience levels. Our small group sizes (5-8 campers per session) ensure personalized attention and maximum engagement.

Is TRCamp Jr. available all three weeks? Yes! Each week has a different theme: LEGO Space Adventures (Week 1), LEGO Robotics Discovery (Week 2), and Engineering Discovery (Week 3). Register for one week or all three.

Can my child attend multiple weeks? Absolutely! Each week covers a different domain, and registering for additional camps saves 10%. Many families do all three weeks with different session choices each time.

What's the difference between TRCamp and MOONSHOT LAB? MOONSHOT LAB is our intensive program for upper middle and high schoolers (8-12), limited to 5 participants. It features advanced platforms (REV Robotics, CAD, Java/Python) and serves as a direct pipeline to our FTC competition teams.
